Martin Cohen has been working in the visual media for three decades. His work has been published internationally and exhibited in major cities around the world. Originally from the Netherlands, where he attended the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam, he has lived in the USA since the early 1980′s. His extensive travels have taken him all over Europe, Africa, Latin America and the former USSR, resulting in solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, Havana, and Amsterdam. Highlights of the past decade include his trips to Cuba and Argentina, where fifty of his photographs were exhibited at the famous Palais de Glace (Palacio Nacional de Las Artes) in Buenos Aires (2008). Over 10.000 people came to see the exhibition, which received extensive coverage and critical acclaim in the Argentinean media. Distinguished by several awards and commendations (PDN Award 1996, International Photography Awards 2004), Martin Cohen has continued to output a highly personal and spirited body of work.
His commercial work includes portraiture, lifestyle and architectural/interior design photography, which has been his main focus over the past few years. He still enjoys working with medium as well as large format (4×5”) film cameras, but these days most of Martin’s commercial work is shot digitally. He continues to serve a wide range of clientele, mostly in the Los Angeles region.
